Formed in the fall of 2001 by brothers Jared and Michael bell, Lymbyc Systym has become a prominent force in the underground instrumental rock scene. Drawing on influences such as Tortoise, Mice Parade and Sigur Rós, their sound cleverly combines laptop programming, dynamic drumming and catchy vintage keyboard melodies. The brothers built their operation from the ground up, spending countless hours writing, recording, booking their own tours and producing two albums. Their latest record, Carved by Glaciers, is a melodic and cohesive EP that blurs the borders between idm, folk-tronica and indie-rock.
Love Your Abuser, the debut full-length from Tempe, Arizona’s Lymbyc Systym, is a sprawling post-rock epic. Brothers Jared and Michael Bell’s ten distinct tracks capture an emotional range not often found in instrumental music. With layers of vintage keyboards and analog effects complemented by virtuoso drum work and tasteful programming, the album glides from the playful to the sublime without sacrificing a core consistency. Without uttering a word, Lymbyc Systym have made one of the most powerful statements in the Mush Records catalog. |
